Remembering Louis

Louis came to Paws of Grace carrying the weight of a story his body could no longer hide. A survivor of devastating hurricane floods, his battered ears and raw, weathered belly told of a past marked by hardship and survival. Yet through it all, Louis remained kind—quiet, observant, and deeply deserving of love.

Though we hoped to give him a peaceful chapter to rest and heal, Louis faced one final battle: a cancerous tumor began to grow behind his eye, one that could not be surgically removed. As it pressed against his eye, it brought increasing discomfort—something no brave soul like Louis deserved to endure.

Despite his pain, Louis carried himself with remarkable gentleness. He accepted care, comfort, and kindness as if he’d been waiting his whole life for a soft place to land. And in his final days, that’s exactly what he found.

Louis’s story is one of strength, survival, and the healing power of compassion. He is no longer in pain, and his spirit lives on—in every storm-weathered soul we promise to shelter.

Louis' legacy will live on in our hearts, deeply cherished and remembered, always and forever.

Remembering Jodi

Jodi came to Paws of Grace Sanctuary alongside her sister Olivia after their devoted owner suffered a serious fall and was no longer able to return home or provide the care they so deeply deserved. At 16 years young, Jodi was full of quiet strength and resilience, carrying herself with grace despite her health battles.

She was living with undiagnosed Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), a progressive condition that affects the kidneys’ ability to filter waste and balance fluids in the body. Alongside this, she bravely battled Hyperthyroidism, a disorder where the thyroid gland produces too much hormone, leading to symptoms like weight loss, increased appetite, and restlessness.

Despite these challenges, Jodi's gentle spirit shone through. She found comfort in cuddling up in one of her previous owners blanket and the familiar closeness of her sister. Her time with us, though too short, was filled with love, dignity, and peace.

Jodi’s legacy lives on in the hearts she touched. She was cherished deeply and will be remembered always—as a survivor, a sister, and a soul full of quiet grace and light.
